Song Premiere: Jubal Lee Young “Seven Bridges Road”
Americana Highways presents this premiere of Jubal Lee Young’s version of his father’s song “Seven Bridges Road (written by Steve Young). This song will be available on March 29, and is part of Jubal’s forthcoming album Wild Birds Warble, due to be released on June 28th. Wild Birds Warble was produced, engineered and mixed by Markus Stadler at Bumpin’ Heads Studio in Nashville, and mastered by Alex McCollough at True East Mastering.
“Seven Bridges Road” is Jubal Lee Young on vocals, guitar, and harmonica; Markus Stadler on dobro, banjo, mandolin, baritone guitar, and vocals; Brian Zonn on bass; Christian Sedelmyer on fiddle; and Jeff Taylor on accordion.
Taking his sweet time accompanied by a low fiddle full of meaning and other instruments falling into place in turns, Jubal absolutely commands on this song, and will have you sitting up in your seat looking for the release date for the rest of the album. Taking a song that’s part of our collective unconscious, and written by his own father no less, Jubal turns this into a heavy, deliberate and sorrowful song of profound beauty. “I have loved you in a tame way, and I have loved you wild,” and then the wondrous crescendo.
What can be said? This is a modern folk song. It permeates American culture and beyond. I’ve dropped the Eagles approach and taken it back to its origins. A mournful ballad, as my father truly intended. – Jubal Lee Young
