She Don’t Like Clowns

She likes the sound of rain
She’ll tell you every time
She likes those magazines
Like you see at the checkout line
She likes the chaos from which
Come the answers she divines
Don’t try to name her
She cannot be defined

And she likes me and I guess that’s why
She lets me hang around, but she
She don’t like clowns

She likes the crackle of a fire
She says it sounds like home
She likes to sit right beside me
Sigh and say she’s all alone
She likes to tell silly jokes
The kind that make people groan
Then she likes to laugh at herself
And when she does she shines like chrome

And she likes me and I guess that’s why
She lets me hang around, but she
She don’t like clowns

She likes to tell the story about when it happened
She was watching some picture show and this evil clown was laughing
Ever since then she just ain’t had no use for any clowns

But she likes me and I guess that’s why
She lets me hang around, but she
She don’t like clowns
